Green Beaver Certified Organic Sunscreen FAQ
Some of these ingredients do not sound very
natural, are they really?
Some Green Beaver's plant extracts do not
sound very natural (e.g., sorbitan olivate, d-alpha tocopheryl acetate,
caprylic/capric triglyceride) although they actually are 100% natural. Being
certified organic means that these plant extracts are derived by green
technology. That is, without the use of chemicals and following ecological and
certified organic approved methods (e.g., cold pressed, fermentation).
Furthermore, organic certification does not allow synthetic substitutes. For
example, Green Beaver utilizes plant-derived d-alpha tocopheryl acetate (vitamin
E) and not synthetic vitamin E. Certified organic regulation also does not allow
any GMO plants extracts.
Why do you say "dicaprylyl carbonate" instead
of "safflower extract?"
Health Canada regulations require that we
specify the name of the ingredient that has been extracted from the safflower
plant. A sunscreen with an ingredient listed as e.g., "safflower extract" on its
label means that it is not following Health Canada’s regulation or is simply not
registered with Health Canada.
How can Green Beaver Sunscreen products be
non-whitening without the use of chemical sunscreens or chemically altered
minerals ?
These products are the result of two years of research
with the help of a research grant from the National Research Council of Canada.
Green Beaver sunscreens are truly non-whitening because they use a fine powdered
zinc oxide (non nano-sized particles) mixed in their innovative certified
organic formulations
